Re: Hunting camp water collection.
We did something similar at my old lease. We put a gutter on our bath house and diverted it into one of those 250gallon water totes. From there we plummed it into a 3 way splitter and ran 1 to the shower, 1 to the toilet, and 1 to the sink. It's amazing how quickly it would fill up. And it sucked wh...

Re: To mineral or not to mineral
This company was at the big buck expo today https://mineralmizerbag.com/products-list They sell a "mineral bag". Kind of a canvas bag that you pour the mineral in and hang it up nose height. As it rains it drips, plus they can lick it. I started to buy one, but remembered I have a bunch of burlap sa...

Re: To mineral or not to mineral
Hope you have better luck than I have. Only thing I can get them to respond to is something with a high salt content. They tore up the spot I poured out a jug of cmere deer. I poured cheap soy sauce on it and they kept it pawed out. But it leaches quick and they quit fooling with it

Re: New hunters
Looks like the brown dog is a pit mix. And the white one looks like it definitely has English pointer in it. Looks like they are good and healthy, and looks like they love the boys. They are both smiling! As far as meds go, I have all 3 of my dogs on Trifexis. It covers fleas, heartworms, and most o...

Re: Dog horn
I have one. My dad told me that my granddaddy made it to call his bird dogs back. As a kid we ran bulldogs. Dad could blow it and they would be at our feet in 5 minutes. I cannot blow it. I have tried and cannot do it

Re: treestand placement during the rut
When you say "the rut", it is also a broad term. I say that only because there are different phases of it and they get hunted slightly different. All of them have one thing in common....you need to sit where you can see the farthest. That may entail getting as high as you can, or even sitting on the...

Re: Round 1 Results?
Yeah that's par for the course nowadays on these quota hunts. Can't hardly draw one and noone shows up. I had a good buck patterned in a WMA last year, and didn't get drawn for the GG gun hunt. I made myself sick trying to pick that hunt up in the FCFS redraws and never got it. Out of curiosity I dr...

Homemade pepper jelly
Made a test batch of hot pepper jelly this afternoon. After my parents retired and had a big garden, dad made cases of this stuff. I picked my moms brain on how they did it, and just went after it. I am about 2 weeks from having hot peppers running out of my nose, so I am looking for things to do wi...
