Re: Here Kitty...Kitty
I grew up in Western Oregon and we used to hunt cougar (panther/mountain lion/etc) with dogs. We would eat them all the time. Hands down the best game meat on the planet. I was born and raised on Venison and Elk and it's sacrilegious to admit it but cougar is way, way better!

Gotta love having the lease close to the house. I was lucky enough to get in on a lease less than a mile from my front door...can't beat it!

I have a feeling you'll be a big fan of the TSX bullets. When I hunted in Kommifornia, I had to go to a non-lead bullet. I've been shooting the TSX ever since. I'm quite pleased with their performance both up close and at long ranges.

Re: 1995 25 hp johnson outboard
Come on now...it's a Johnson. Any of them that are that young are still running! I've got 2 on my boat...an '84 25hp and a '72 6hp that has thousands of hours of trolling time on it. They both still start second pull like a champ! Seriously though...check Craigslist in your area. I've seen quite a f...

Re: Tire time again
I've had great luck with TreadWright tires. They're a newer style of re-cap tires. Lots of people shy away from the re-caps but these are built a bit differently than the old style. Might be worth checking them out. I've got 45,000+ miles on these and they're not half worn out yet. I like them a goo...

Re: Grampa's Roof is leaking
The white sealer you're talking about drgn4sr is probably the "rubber sealer" that's designed to be mopped onto trailer roofs. It is rather effective and a cheaper short-term (a couple years) alternative to a high-dollar roof replacement.

Re: Make shift hunting blind
I actually built up a walker for my hunting buddy in a very similar fashion. Camo Duct tape everything shiny. Put bigger tires on it (lawnmower tires from Harbor Freight). I also added a couple carabiners (via hose clamps) for hanging his binos/rangefinder on and hose-clamped a cheap Walmart mono-po...

Re: ATV carb question
Your lower or idle jet is clogged. Like Pochop said...maybe something floating in from the tank. Anyhow...pull that external screw off the carb and spray carb cleaner in the hole and it should unclog it. If not, you may have to take the whole carb apart again. I would go dump an entire bottle of Sea...

Re: Outboard Question/Verification
That is a vacuum-operated fuel pump...no wires. It uses suction from the engine to pull the gas up out of the tank. Anyhow...seal it from the outside if at all possible if it's still running properly. Those pumps have a diaphragm and a bunch of tiny parts in them that are a PITA to get put back toge...

Re: Hog attractants
I use a sour mash type recipe made from sweet feed. It soaks into the ground and creates a wallow for the hogs. Smell lasts a couple weeks plus every time it rains it starts smelling again. 5 gallon bucket. 4" of sweet feed. 2 gallons of boiling water with 5 lbs of dissolved sugar. Pour boiling wate...

Re: Free-floating a barrel in a wooden stock
Free-floating your barrel on a Rem 700 can and will improve accuracy if done properly. I would recommend an epoxy pillar-bed job and free-floating the barrel. Much easier than you think and will have tremendous results.

I've noticed that the pigs certainly love the left-over sour mash...fermented corn is a hell of a hog bait!

Re: Lookin to get my concealed weapons permit
Lots of good info here. Guess it's time to get mine again. My last one was in Alaska and they are a thing of the past up there...everybody can carry any legally owned firearm concealed any time they want.
