You must be right, it has nothing to do with them smelling the rats, though they can do that from yards away.
Heck, even the anaconda and sea snake who can smell prey UNDER WATER, are probably just listening to fishermen on the VHF.

Picking up vibrations through the ground is entirely different than "hearing" airborne sounds.
Even the studies that show that some species of snakes pick up vibrations through their jaw and skull require transmission through either direct touch or a source within a distance of only cm.

While he might not have liked you stealing his spot, he didn't mind the clicking noise...

You can put a dead in a ziploc with chicken parts to transfer smells. I had a snake that ate leg quarters from Publix.

Nacho, I found my problem.
I was basing my height on the entire length of the post, not the bottom pipe that the post was in.

If those pipes are 3' long as the OP stated, their angle means that pig's back is only 15-18 inches off the ground.
The pig looks big but if the scale stated in the original post is correct, that's only a 100 pound porker.

Zyrtec should work within 30 minutes, works for 1 - 4 hours, and slowly loses potency as it leaves your system within 24 hours.
It doesn't "build up".
