Green Swamp WMA: The First 9 days

Any of you guys fortunate to get a first 9 days quota permit for the Green Swamp have any reports for us. Any idea of some success numbers so far; i.e., deer, hogs, or squirrels? Let us know. I am headed out there Monday Dec. 1st for the 10th day when everyone else is allowed to hunt.

Re: Dove season 2014/2015

There were some guys who had dogs there last year. I don't think he would mind if you had a retriever to fetch downed doves.

Hilochee WMA?

Anyone ever hunt squirrels there? This is not the Osprey Unit, but the area off HWY 474, between Clermont and Polk City in Lake county. It looks like it might be a good squirrel area. If you hunted there, did you see any squirrels? The small game season is only about a week long there at the end of ...

Re: Dove season 2014/2015

Went to the Hilochee WMA dove field again on Oct. 4th. Did not see many doves. Did get one good shot at one and missed. Maybe it will get better in November. Are there doves in huntable numbers anywhere?

Re: Dove season 2014/2015

I was at the Hilochee WMA dove field. It was just too wet and too much rain. I just saw a few distant doves; nothing to shoot at. There was a lot of shooting in another field near us, but I don't know if they were seeing many shootable doves, or just sky blasting. I could not get to the far end of t...

Re: Dove season 2014/2015

Anyone going to the Hilochee WMA dove field Saturday? The FWC report is that the field is in good condition, but with some hog damage, whatever that means, as to how extensive and how it may affect dove numbers, I guess no one knows. The report also said that dove numbers were fair. I guess there wi...

Re: Myakka WMA Snipe

Kortsman, you are correct. Thanks for the tip. The google sat. map showed lots of fields where there are few if any trees. It is a pretty big area so there should be plenty of fields for everybody.

Myakka WMA Snipe

Has anyone ever hunted the Myakka State Game Area? I saw a video posted by a guide service, Sarasota Outfitters, and they were guiding snipe hunts there. In the video, it looked like they were in some semi flooded fields that looked like great snipe habitat. This is a small game and shotguns only ar...

Re: Dove season 2014/2015

I was successful in getting a season permit for the Hilochee WMA Dove Club. I have heard that people are seeing pretty good numbers of dove so far. I will report my results after next Saturday's (Sept. 27th) opener.

Dear Moderators,

The problem with this forum is that very few people must visit it. Like you, I post questions and get no responses. I am about to give this one up.

Anyone Still Hunting Doves?

If so, are you seeing any? The reports on the FWC web site are pretty dismal. Rhe weather is starting to get cooler here are cold up north. Maybe some will migrate down.
