Re: Scopes

imo putting a scope on a winchester lever is like putting a luggage rack on a race car, it ruins the lines and profile of the gun, and the "spirit " of what it was designed for. realisticly what distances and cover are you going to be using it for? a good quality open adjustable sight (like millet) ...

never hog hunted

I would appreciate any advice/opinions on hog hunting, never tried it but it looks/sounds like fun. a few problems are I'm overweight out of shape and have a bad back and occasional vertigo, so tree stands and long hikes and drags are out. also I have no hunting partners down here in fla so I will b...

Re: picking a hunting handgun

I've used a ruger superblackhawk 44mag 7 1/2" bbl, and a ruger redhawk 357 5 1/2" bbl both with open sights, both work fine to the extent of my shooting ( I like to keep it under 40 yds) the problem is the deer can hear you cocking the hammer.95% of my shots at about 20 deer have been 20- 30 yds whe...

Re: Reload or Store bought

store bought have gotten pretty damn good but pricey. if you have a finicky rifle you cant tweak a store bought load to make the over all length longer or shorter,or a tad more or less powder, or a different primer. store bought makes one round that will work in any gun of that caliber, handloads ar...

Re: 7mm-o8

Ive used it for over 25 yrs now, extremely accurate, low recoil, easy to reload for i've made 120 to 170 grain bullets with numerus powders & primers and all shoot sub moa at 100 yds. in the remington model 7 with 18 inch bbl it is short, light handy in a tree or heavy brush and with a low power vari...

Re: What kind of scopes you using on your hunting rifle.

I use leupold, cuz I can't afford german optics & prefer low power variables. most used is my 1.5x5 on a rem mdl 7 in 7mmo8, winchester 94xtr lever in 375cal with millet open sights, benelli sbe 12 ga slug barrel with leupold 1x4,browning a bolt in 270wsm with 3x9x40mm, ruger 2506 varmint rig with 4...
