Grandson's 1st deer

Our home place was turned upside down by Hurricane Michael. The grandson's shooting house is inaccessible, the big shooting house over looking the Rye and the clover is missing part of the roof, not really a problem but the shots are usually 100 yards or more. So we utilized a spot on our lease for ...

Thanksgiving 2018

I want to wish all the fine folks on FOHAF a very Happy Thanksgiving! We all have so much for which to be thankful in spite of unpleasant issues in politics, storms, fires. We are blessed to live in the best nation in the world.

Good job! Congratulations, some fine venison for your table. Glad your son was with you. My dad didn't care a thing about hunting but he gave the fish in Central Florida a fit beginning in the late 40's. I sure loved to fish with him, he's been gone for almost 40 years. Time flies. I had an uncle th...

Re: Fluffing up last years food plot

We have had to make a few changes in our hunting plans, at least for the grandsons' hunting at Thanksgiving. Our place is unbelievably wet! The boys shooting house is inaccessible because of downed timber, the big food plot and Durana Clover is questionable because of standing water and downed timbe...

Good job, Bossman! The youtube video was neat. Glad you got a good one.
We are wet, wet, wet in the Panhandle and with all the hurricane damage things are sure different. I'm gettin' too old to be in the road clearing business with a chainsaw.
Keep bustin' them good ones!

Killboars, that's a mighty fine looking rub, appears a pretty heavy deer made that one!

Re: Getting out of my rut.

Carl,
Great looking bucks! I believe those two are refugees from the Panhandle, noticing the date on the picture, about 8 hours after Hurricane Michael started through our place.
Hope you take time and enjoy the stand.

Amen, drgn4sr! This is the 1st time I voted early, mainly because of the terrible disruptions of the polling places being shifted due to our visit from Michael.

Re: Fluffing up last years food plot

My last post concerning the last years food plot was on 10-09-'18 the day before Michael came ashore. My wife and I have been through lots of hurricanes as children and several in the 50+ years we've been married but never had we experienced a storm quite like this! First I am thankfufl to the Lord ...

Ted, you and I are on the same page when it comes to salvaging grinding meat. There is a lot of good meat that goes to waste when folks don't take the time to do it right. Way too many folks say, "Pull the straps, cut off the hams and feed the buzzards." What a waste! I asked a feller a year or so b...

Wow! That's a fine one. You need to tell us how he came to be piled up with that rifle hung in his horns.

Good afternoon Fellers! We just got power back after 11 days and 23 hours! Been running generators on the freezers and refrigerators, a fan and a lamp for night time. No A/C was rough! We had no damage to our home! The Lord protected our house as we have a Live Oak and a big Long leaf Pine within ju...

Re: Fluffing up last years food plot

As everybody in Florida probably knows, Hurricane Michael is coming ashore some time tomorrow. We are about 40 miles inland from the Gulf so we will get a lot of this storm. I was a little concerned that the Rye planted last Friday afternoon might rot before it germinated. Were we ever surprised thi...

Re: Fluffing up last years food plot

Here are a few of our visitors that come by the feeder which is south of the Durana clover which is south of the freshly planted Rye which is south of the shooting house.
Notice all are on different days.
