Thanksgiving wee so far

Post by Iluv2hunt » Sun Nov 23, 2014 11:35 am

Started off yesterday morning. Was in my climber 10 min when the first victim showed herself. A 243 bullet and meat on the table

Yesterday afternoon was raining. I had a mission to kill a duck and wasn't leaving without it. Lol. I heard them whis thing so I knew they were in there. About 5 pm they came paddling by. One steel load later I got me a woodie.

On the way back to camp my buddy is staying with me and hunting his property. He texts me buck down. Ended up with this half rack

Lookin' good! Y'all remember when a .243 wasn't considered enough rifle for a deer huntin' by the experts? I guess that dates me, but it has stuck in my mind, reading that from Field & Stream when I was a lot younger. How times and opinions change. Good job on the nanny, the duck and your buddy's buck!

That 243 and a corelokt bullet did more damage than many 3006 kills I have had in my life. I took video of the recovery. Anyone that says a 243 isn't enough bullet needs a fry pan upside their noggin.

No. Deer only ran 40 yards. You have to keep in mind it's 22 miles one way from camp to lease. So it's not like flipping a light switch to go get her.

I don't want to steal the thread but I had a friend that shot a 6 point buck with a .222 65 grain bullet he loaded. and that thing did so much damage that both shoulders were no good.
