Option 2 – Paper Deer Harvest Log and Follow-Up Reporting
https://myfwc.com/media/21262/deer-harvest-log.pdf

Hunters can log (Step 1) on a paper deer harvest log. Download an FWC-provided deer harvest log. Hunters then have up to 24 hours** to complete the reporting (Step 2) by:
Calling the toll-free Deer Harvest Reporting Hotline at 844-392-DEER (3337) between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET, (at peak times you may hear a recording that indicates operators are busy and to try again later), or
Using the FWC Deer Harvest Reporting App (see details in Option 1)

Confirmation Number: This confirmation number is not valid until the harvest record is successfully submitted using the FWC Deer Harvest Reporting App or the Deer Harvest Reporting Hotline. If using the FWC Deer Harvest Reporting App, the successful submission will be saved in the “Sent” folder. If using a paper deer harvest log the confirmation number must be recorded on the harvest log.

* Hunters exempt from license requirements who do not have an FWC customer ID number (CID) can obtain one by visiting GoOutdoorsFlorida.com before the season begins and clicking “Create Customer Account.”

**Hunters must report harvested deer: 1) within 24 hours of harvest, or 2) prior to final processing of the deer, or 3) prior to the deer or any parts of the deer being transferred to a meat processor or taxidermist, or 4) prior to the deer leaving the state, whichever occurs first.

When must harvested deer be logged and reported?

Hunters must log their harvested deer prior to moving it from the point of harvest, which is that point where the hunter located the harvested deer.

Hunters must report harvested deer: 1) within 24 hours of harvest, or 2) prior to final processing of the deer, or 3) prior to the deer or any parts of the deer being transferred to a meat processor or taxidermist, or 4) prior to the deer leaving the state, whichever occurs first.

NOTE: After a deer has been logged and prior to reporting it, hunters may field dress their deer and begin processing the meat themselves while afield or at camp. However, if a commercial meat processor is used, the harvested deer must be reported before transferring the deer or parts of the deer to a commercial processor.

What information is needed to log and report a harvested deer?

Hunters should have a deer harvest log or an app-enabled mobile device with the FWC Deer Harvest Reporting App (learn to install and use the app) with them in a backpack, fanny pack or pocket while hunting to avoid any delays in moving their harvested deer. Hunters will need the following information when reporting a harvested deer:

Name (first and last name of the person who harvested the deer)
Date of birth
FWC Customer ID number (CID)
Date of harvest
Time of harvest
Public or private land
County
Deer management unit
Wildlife management area (if applicable)
Method of take
Antlered or antlerless deer
Number of antler points (if antlered deer was indicated)
Antlerless male or female (if antlerless deer was indicated)
For deer taken on private lands, whether a deer program permit was used (Antlerless Deer Program permit or Private Lands Deer Management Program permit)
6-digit Tag number (if a deer program permit was used)
The annual statewide bag limit is 5 deer per person of which no more than 2 deer can be antlerless. Learn more about bag limits including exemptions.

What are the Rules regarding transferring deer or parts of harvested deer?

Deer may be dismembered and/or transferred to another person in the field or camp but each deer, or each portion and part of the deer, shall have written information attached to it containing the first and last name and address of the person who harvested it; the date of harvest; the county or if applicable name of public hunting area where harvested; and the sex of the deer, and shall be readily traceable to the portion or portions of the animal bearing the sex identification.

Once a harvested deer has been reported through the Commission’s harvest reporting system, information recorded in the harvest log and the harvest reporting confirmation number must be attached to all deer, or parts thereof prior to being transferred to another party. Hunters will need the following information when transferring a harvested deer, or parts thereof:

Name (first and last name of the person who harvested the deer)
Date of harvest
County or, if applicable, name of wildlife management area where harvested
Sex of deer (male or female)
Harvest Reporting Confirmation Number

How can exempt hunters get a Custer ID number?

Hunters exempt from license requirements who do not have an FWC customer ID number (CID) can obtain one by going to GoOutdoorsFlorida.com before the season begins and clicking “Create Customer Account.”

What do people hunting under a Private Lands Deer Management Program Permit or Antlerless deer program permit need to be aware of

Antlered and antlerless deer harvested under Private Lands Deer Management Program permits and antlerless deer harvested under Antlerless Deer Program permits are excluded from a hunter’s annual bag limit. Deer harvested under these deer program permits must be logged and reported to the FWC’s harvest reporting system by the hunter who harvested the deer. Hunters can use multiple paper deer harvest logs to accommodate additional deer harvest.

NOTE: Only hunters who harvest a deer on lands participating in the Private Lands Deer Management Program or Antlerless Deer Program need to record the 6-digit tag number on their paper Deer Harvest Log or FWC Deer Harvest Reporting App. Find information to install and use the FWC Deer Harvest Reporting App.

What id the benefit of a harvest reporting system for deer?

A harvest reporting system will foster bag limit compliance and give the FWC another source of deer harvest data. The annual hunter phone survey will continue to be done after the season ends.
