Hey guys, just wondering what kind of fishing rod/reel is ideal for snaggin gators?

it really doesn't matter just as long as your accurate with the sling - cast. All that's foe is to get him close and tag him with a harpoon.

I figured id try the fishing pole tactic, first week of the season we were able to get within a few feet o them and tossed the hand treble out and snatched em up, then bang.

The guys I've talked to and been with seem to use bigger spinners like the Penn 7500 or 9500 with 80-100 lb braid. Med heavy action rod. You'll want something with some backbone that you can still cast pretty good. Later in the season you won't be able to get within a couple feet any more. I still haven't been out to use my tags yet myself. Good luck!
