Lake Hancock Week 3 hunt

Post by fishindad » Tue Aug 30, 2011 9:48 pm

We got out to the ramp around 6pm. No scouting, no running the lake ahead of time... Nada. Did not have the time. THEN, we had rain all day, it dropped the lake temp to around 80 degrees and the outside temps to the high 70s for the night. It was already looking to be a rough night. That being said, it was a great night to be out there too.

Alot of shoreline working. ALOT. We looked in every area with "sign." The gators were VERY spooky. Everytime we came up on them, down they went. We casted at alot of bubble trails. ALOT. We kept at it. Around 11 pm.... A good bubble trail. ReelMojo casted and BAM gator on! We worked the boat to keep him out in front. A couple of times he went under the boat and we almost lost him. Around 10 minutes into it, we got the harpoon in him. a few minutes later... BANG .... the 357 mag bang stick did the rest.

Good stuff for our first hunt on our tags. We only ended up with one but, with 19 pounds of meat, and a decent hide, I am happy with that. Being able to spend a good time out with good folks... Yet another bonus. Now onto the next Gator!

Enjoy the pics

So getting a big gator there might be rough? My friend and I have Hancock Phase 3 and have been wondering how rough it's going to be to snag a biggun.
Not sure if I would rather be locked up with a 12 ft shark or helping dogs pull down a big ole hog.

They are pretty spooky. Best advise is to look for bubble trails. Thats how we got ours.
