New toy (disc)

Post by Iluv2hunt » Tue Jan 15, 2013 6:26 pm

Finally, after a year of looking I found an ATV disc. I found a bunch of junk, over priced stuff, ones that got away from me...etc. Finally found this one I liked and for once when I asked the question.."Do you still have it?"...I got a yes
Went up there this afternoon and got it. The dude hooked a chain to his bobcat and set it in the back of my truck. I used my ramps to unload it
I will be doing the initial ground breaking on my 4 food plots this weekend. Good thing is my buddy is splitting the cost of it with me so I really only paid half

Exact same one I've got. I also split the cost with a buddy to keep the cost down. Works good but we added some weight to help it out. A buddy of mine redrilled the mounting brackets on his in order to turn the discs a little bit and his cuts in much better. You'll be happy with that one.

You should weld a short piece of rebar on each corner and then you can add weight plates for added weight.

We did exactly that to my buddies old "flip" disc. It worked well. I even found some weights by someones trash that we used. Now they are in a swamp in NW Florida. I will give it a trial run this weekend. If I think it needs more weight I will get my buddy to weld some to it
It weighs 235#, according to the specs

Same one I have.......They were on sale a couple years back I think I paid 475.00 brand new. It does a good job and it kills belt driven 4 wheels. I would suggest you stop and get a couple extra spark plugs because it will foul out plugs when I pull with 400 big bear. I pull it in 2nd gear most of the time. Good luck on food plots and what are you going to plant?

Same 4 wheeler I have. I've planted many a food plot with mine so far.

For right now, I just want to get the ground turned over and fertilizer down. I may pick up a bag of something cheap to scatter for the turkeys to graze on, but not really worried about it at this moment. In the spring I will plant RackMaster spring mix. In the fall I will plant Rackmaster fall blend and over seed with clover

One plot disked and fertilized, and another deep woods oak strand fertilized today. 3 more plots to disk and fertilize tomorrow. Disc did ok, but needs more weight. One I did today is an old tram road that is a lot of lime rock. A couple bags of fertilizer on the disc for weight did the trick
