Any complaints on the Summit Titan SD climber?

Post by sharrison » Wed Oct 30, 2013 2:55 am

I need to buy another stand and since i'm not a small guy I want something I can trust and is comfortable. The Titan and Goliath seem to be close to the same but the Titan has a larger bottom piece correct?

I love to support local businesses but the best I found local is $325 + tax. so close to $350
Cheapest online is $295 shipped and no tax

I have the Summit Viper and also a Summit classic (steel version). I have always loved my summit's and always pimped them out to others...but if you are hunting on private land where you can leave them and not worry about theft..there are a couple stands I have added that are more comfortable than Summit's
One is the SuperMag extreme made by Austin outdoors. YOu can face the tree or away. And the seat platfor/rail is huge so you can actually lay a cocked crossbow sideways on it
Other is a gunslinger. You face the tree only so it's a gun stand. It is like being in your recliner

Neither of these set up super fast like a SUmmit does, hence why I kinda rate them as a private land stand where you can set them up and leave them for a while

If you get a summit. make sure you get the foot rest to go with it

ALso check ebay if you are going to get a Summit. Believe it or not, some of the best deals are on there with free shipping

my complaint to summit is.
Cables wear out to fast rubber brakes apart and you will have to cut off. They usually makes it one season with rubber cassing.
The seat works it way down, the adjustment on its not great.
Other wise there light and easy to set up. I will say there still not even close to as comfortable as a tree lounge but definitely way lighter.

I will use it on WMA as well as private land. I mostly gun hunt but do bow hunt a little bit so I don't really want to face the tree. I've used several Summit stands int he past and liked them. Just want sure on the Titan itself.

Ebay is the cheapest I've found at $295. The local Ace hardware has then for $329 but I know the manager and am going to see if he'll cut me some slack. He never has on anything else but it's worth a shot if they want to sell one locally.

Thanks for the info..

I have a Viper SD. My dad has a 180 and a Viper. My cousin has three Vipers, one of which is a SD. That tells you what we think of them!

I ended up getting a Max 180 SD. I liked the seat better as well as the option to sit either way even though I doubt i'll sit facing the tree very much if at all.. So far I like it..
