Had great time as usuall at the dove shoot and the head chef Nacho Man did an outstanding job with the chicken and patatos. Plenty of vintage scatter guns on hand and some new stuff as well. Birds did not fly all that well but still had few shots. Need that cold ynkee air to start moving. Will have to set up another hunt for the group.

Saturday 10/26? The last weekend of phase 1, + the cold front couldn't hurt.

For some of you guys who have hunted at the Davenport dove field a lot, what is the latest that you can arrive there and still be able to check in and pay? I would like to arrive around 2:00 to 3:00. Would that be ok? could someone please answer my question. I asked before but I have been ignored.

they may not be at the gate at that time. we have listed the phone # NUMEROUS TIMES so YOU can call THEM, for ?'s on how THEY DO THINGS. Don't worry, they will find you for the $. I wouldn't plan on a great spot if getting there late, depending on how busy it is on that particular day. WE wouldn't know how long they stay there as we try to get there at least an hour before shooting time to get a DECENT spot, get set up & lunch cooking, etc.

Ok. Thanks. I have the number. I'll just call and see what the guy says. When I was there last week, (the 2nd Saturday of the season) it seems like there were no shortage of spots. There were many places to pick from. It just makes for a long day when you get there at 12:00 and you see nothing until 4:00 or 5:00. But, I can't complain. Places to dove hunt are getting harder and harder to find. Thanks for your response.

so far each time has been very different. We would prefer to be in the flat shady spot near a small pond. that one gets grabbed quick. But YES any spot could be best on any given day.

Went to the Davenport dove field today. Only saw a few doves, even less hunters. Hopefully the next phase will be better.

Wanted to be there sat 10/26. thought the weather conditions would have been perfect, + less crowds when it's not the first day of a phase. It's a long 2 hour drive home in the dark when the headlights don't work. Like they always say, "you should have been here yesterday".

I'd like to join you but I have two gun shows in Orlando to go through with over 400 tables, sorry. Good luck, it should be a good day with the cool weather.

Nacho or GB, what time do you recommend getting out there? Are there spots you recommend? I may take a ride down there this weekend.

I like to be there around noon and stay till dark. Most times we have a group of three or more in our party and get there sometime around 10 am, but then we do firearm show and tell, cook a good lunch and BS until the birds start flying. We normally hunt all the way in the back near the pond and big oak tree in the bottom/field.
