Any snipers?

Post by Calvin66 » Wed Sep 18, 2013 9:25 am

Not looking for your honey hole coordinates, but wondering if someone might want to share some general info on "where" I might find some as close as possible to the Miami area.

Thanks

I got a great spot if you have a good burlap bag.

Thanks 30.06.
By close I mean within say 1.5 hour drive. They are fast, and erratic.

Calvin, I have not set out to hunt snipes on purpose but have bagged a few. The Avon Park area is a big place, and holds game. If you do a little cyber scouting with google earth you will see what Im talking about.

The T.M. Goodwin WMA has four first come first served snipe hunts scheduled in Feb. 2014. I plan to go at least for one of them. I have hunted there before and ther are always lots of snipe. There are usually not many hunters there either. It is a non-toxic shot area and your gun needs to be plugged for 3 shots. You can find their brochure on the FWC site. Also, there are a few snipe out at the Walk-In-The-Water WMA, but the small game season there is only a few days. Any marshy wet fields you can gain access to will hold snipe.
