Eurasian Collared Dove

Post by calusa » Mon Oct 28, 2013 6:20 am

Anyone ever shoot shoot the Collared doves? If so what shot do you typically use?

Had an opportunity to shoot these birds at a farm this past weekend and they do not fall like a mourning dove.

They are probably 1.5 - 2 xs larger than a mourning dove. It seems like they have Kevlar on their feathers!!

They do eat well however!!

I have shot a few while hunting for mourning doves. I don't believe that there is any season or limit on them as they are not native to Florida or the U.S. An ounce of #7 1/2 shot should be ideal.

No limit on them. They taste the same as a morning dove. I like shooting #8's or 7 1/2'S.
