Get you a 100 rounds of 12 gauge, a shotgun and go on a dove hunt. You think you're a good shot, OK... I have spent over 25 years on the trap, skeet and sporting clays fields, shot in three different countries while I was in the service, and consider myself an above average trap and sporting clays shooter (Average 83-88 of 100 on a good day). Everytime I shoot doves it's like a completely new experience. They never fly the same way, not one. Starting out, if your a good shot with a shotgun it will take you 3-5 rounds per bird to finally get one to fall. Besides, a round of 100 clay targets thrown at a sporting clays range today will run you $40-$50 and shooting at Doves is a hell of a good time, especially with a group of friends. Bottom line, if I was just looking for meat or poultry, I'd personally go to Publix!

I have hunted dove for many years and would never pay to shoot them I understand they are tough buggers to hit.I could not hit a clay for anything but live birds well I have shot a bunch and I agree with the 3 to 1 on dove but to pay that much...thats for the ppl that want to do so.

What about shooting dove birds on the open WMA property, Three Lakes had a dove field the last time I was there. I have a hard time understanding the rules of each WMA (almost like the man is making it hard to hunt) but I have hunted the first phase on a WMA and will probably end up doing it again this year. The public non pay field at Hillochee has been closed for the last couple of seasons.

here is one that I found. tooo much$$$$ for me. love to shoot those little buggers though. Warren,
Thank you for your inquiry. Give me a call on my cell [# below]. I'll be glad to show you around the property {between Archer & Bronson}.
You can participate in one of two ways: either $600 for the season or $50.00 per hunt. I am offering $50.00 per shoot option [for one adult; this includes one child under 16 per shoot].
We will shoot either every Saturday or every other Saturday depending on dove population. Will shoot Sundays when Gator football is at home. I will decide if there are enough birds for a quality shoot and will let everyone know via email.
The 2nd & 3rd phases are usually the best and last year we had some excellent shoots after it turned cold. We also have lunch & skeet shooting before the shoots; we'll have something on the grill & everyone brings a little something to share.
I have 2 fields; 20+ acres each, with an ample number of good spots surrounding the fields. I also have access to two other fields off of my property. I will limit # of shooters to 15-18 per shoot.
Give me a call if you would like to ride out and have a look at the property. [Cell # below] Thanks, Kate

frankwt sounds like yall have more oppotunities to hunt dove birds in n fla. When I drive that far north I usually end up in Ga to do my civic duty to rid the country of the very dangerous and wiley whitetail deer. It is hard to find a place this far south to hunt dove birds that doesnt break the bank. I think the 20 dollar dove field and the .85 cent spark plug are gone forever.
