Started Runnin Dixie.

Post by Cr0ck1 » Sun Feb 02, 2014 9:41 pm

So last friday i started running dixie on rabbits. She was a mess. It was her first time out in the woods loose. We had 3 finished beagles that were rabbit hunters. So i had dixie run with them. She was just weird. She would be with the pack and when they popped off on a trail dixie would start with them then look at me when she got bout 100 yards away and run back to me. Well thats my fault. I would usually keep her close and I'm regretting it. So we were out all day and she did the same thing.

So we went out today and only had one Finished Beagle that finds a rabbit anywhere!. So dixie stayed by her and was more focused. It was only her second time trailing. She stayed with the other beagle and didn't run back when she was scared she got too far. I ran her for bout 6 hours on friday and bout 8 hours today. She's getting there..

So we got 1 rabbit today and we used to to train dixie. i would put her in the box, and my buddy would drag it and hide it. 4 out 4 times she found the rabbit!. I was so happy..

Im gonna get a vid up in a min!

Great feeling when your dog starts to figure it out!

Keep working her!

That's pretty cool. Great companion and turning her into a hunter! Do you have a little bell on your pup, or is that just her collar and tags making the noise in the video?

Sweet deal! I'm ready to hear her strike on one and get all excited. Be sure to get that on film.
