Sta-Bil for ethanol

Post by Iluv2hunt » Wed Feb 03, 2010 8:45 am

Finally found it at the new Wally World yesterday. This stuff has been hard to find

Ben using Sea Foam and the Star-Brite, but heard good stuff about this too. Anyone else used it or other products for fuel stabilizing ??

Never heard they made it for the ethanol but I'm gonna get some. I've been having some issues in the Release and am pretty sure it's the ethanol. My other boat is at a marina in the keys and they buy fuel without ethanol so I haven't had any issues with it yet. They charge a little more for it but it's worth it IMO. Good info there Allen. Thanks :toast

I thought I saw some a BPS, but I didn't get any. No gas in my boat, so no need.

No gas = more room for moisture to collect. A full fuel tank is the best way, besides an additive and a fuel water separator, to help with keeping it in check.

I would agree on the full tank thing, but I'm gonna have to fill/flush the tank anyways. Hasn't been run since I changed the oil and drained the tank 2 yrs ago. Blew the impeller and parked it. Got the part, then no time to fix it between work and hunting. Now that the season's over, I'm hoping work doesn't get too busy so I can get it back in shape again. Sucks washing it every month only to know that it's gonna sit there. That and I change the oil once a year.

Nice and shiney. Of course, it just reminds me how much fun I used to have on it, and how much of a hole in the water it is. I ain't had hardly any issues with it besides normal maintenance and rebuilding the trim pistons/outdrive hydraulics, but the insurance, etc. especially over the past 2 years, makes me wonder. And the boat's just too big for one person. It takes a joint effort just to launch and load. More of a "camper" on the water than a sports boat. But I did rig it for telescoping/removable outriggers for trolling.

Race track none e gas.
My last motor on my boat would burn way to much e-gas compared to none e-gas. Enough that a dollar more a gallon saved me money. I kept track for about compared 3 runs offshore and back to port i burn 45 gallons of e-gas compared to 28 of none e-gas. making the same run. I have not finished the repower with the bigger motor yet.

After losing several small motor tools from ethanol the only thing I'll use it in is the car/truck. NON E gas is the way to go. (IMO) I get it for < 50 cents/gal more than E gas, WORTH EVERY PENNY. Try it in your vehicle on your next long trip, it will increase mileage/performance & help clean gas lines etc.
Anything worth doing is worth overdoing
