Moved some bee

Post by jtcmedic » Tue Aug 29, 2017 8:44 pm

Replied to a ad on Craig's list of need to relocate bees, 2 hr away called and went to 2 hives 1 a double deep
And the other was 4 deep, owner had to move and nowhere to put bees but wanted to keep equipment so after a inspection we swapped all to my equipment and I left him 50 new frames, And loaded up the bees

I took out some capped honey for him and we left, very nice guy

Got them to my isolation yard and well let them settle long day for them.

wow 2 hours with a hive laying down never tried that ! I expect you will have 16 to 20 hives by april bees have a way of doing that (increasing). we went from 12 to 28 this year with a goal of 40 by next summer any more than that I will have to buy another trailer.. good times and a lot of fun

thanks but pretty good demand around here people wanting to buy hives. we have Italians like them pretty gentle. robbed them down to the brood box so had to feed them . have you done that how do you like it? easy to treat for mites

I split all my hives this season and left all the honey in there for them. I keep in a deep and a medium , not 2 deep but my girls are acting as it’s spring with this fall flow, I treat with oav and treatment and have no problem yet
