Aucilla Campgrounds

Post by blackpowderscout » Tue Oct 29, 2013 9:21 am

Anyone know of any campgrounds near Aucilla WMA? Looking for a place for tent camping while I'm there next week. I see the WMA doesn't have any campsites.

Thanks.

Wakulla county has a campground at Newport about 10 miles east of Aucilla on US 98 just before the Saint Marks River. I don't know the prices etc. Look up Wakulla county and you can get the parks department.
There is also a private campground off of SR 59 on Fanlew Rd. No info about it though.
Hope this helps.

Also try J. R.s store. Its just east of the Aucilla river on 98. He does.nt really have a campground, but he might let you pitch a tent there.
If I remember right his number is 584-4595.

The CG in Newport is nice. We stayed there for a bit while we were setting our camp up at the old lease

Is Goose Pasture close to where you're wanting to hunt? It's a free campground. I looked into hunting Aucilla a few years ago and that is where I was going to camp.

Scratch that. Looks like it's not open for general gun.

I've never been so I'm not sure. I'll look into it.

Nice link! It says that camping is prohibited there during general gun...so that sucks. But it's nice to know about for future trips there.
