LAKE MONROE

Post by ShotshellRebel83 » Wed Feb 05, 2014 4:55 pm

Hey guys heading up to lake monroe in a few weeks and I wanted to know if anyone had some gen. Info on this wma. Of coarse I would be limited to small game but I see that wild hog is allowed during the small game season. So wanted to know what kind of terrain to expect and what game plan would be the most successful in the area...thanks

Never been there, but my advice is to look on Google Maps or Earth. You can get ideas on where to start that way.

Its thick, make sure you wear lots of Orange, it can be like the wild west out there. People shooting at ground level into brush you cant see 30 yards through. I have had good luck starting at the north parking lot, working along the northern edge until you can cut towards the lake. Plenty of hog sign. I have heard some people have better luck coming in from the river and working their way east.

I was in there looking for hogs but I could hear people shooting at squirrels all over the place. Made me a little nervous because I could not see anyone so I went as far back as I could to stay out of range.

That's commonplace in all of Florida
