I was there this weekend and I didn't see anything too bad road-wise. Obviously, some places you will need 4wd, but nothing impassible.

Even there most of the places in the roads where you need 4WD you can just drive around. Thanks for the update though. Ill be out there in a few weeks :rock_on

Good luck man. A guy got busted for poaching a doe there this weekend. I heard him shooting real close to my stand. They made him clean the doe at the check station in front of everyone. The meat was being donated to charity and they FWC officer was going to keep the hide as evidence. Why would you bust off a rifle during archery if you were trying to fly under the radar?

Yea that doesnt make sense. Citrus has a really bad problem with poaching just because there are so many ways in and outta that place.

Talked to my dad this morning. He was able to finish out the archery opener up there, which I wasn't. A guy blazed a 174 lb 10 point yesterday morning. My old man said he couldn't get his thumb and index finger completely around the base of the antlers. That is at least a 7.5" base! That is like the bottom of a beer bottle.

Now that is the truth. I wiffed on a big body (150 lb) 8 pt out there Saturday morning. 39 yard shot through a 5' opening. He never even thought about stopping, even after I gave him two goat calls. Saw a few more bucks further away. They are there, just go where the trucks and other hunters are not.

Yea its hard to find areas that are quiet in there though. We hunt either off of Rd 24, south of stage coach or up off of Rd 10. Next time im up there i wanna take a cruise up over off of Rds 4 and 6 up thata ways. Doesnt seem like theres lots of people hunting up over there.

We scouted the south side. 2 or more trucks every single turn out... Lots of locals hole sitting between hunts, which I guess you have to do when there is that many people hunting the same general area.

We only saw one truck north of 6 the whole time we were there... ;)

Yea that south end is always really crowded. Last year we were hunting the far east side of 24 where that big mine is. I shot a spike there on the gun quota hunt last year.

Alright yea im gonna look up off of 6 and 4 then :toast

'Tis true. Saw that while scouting and was wondering why the clear cut.
