I hunted there for the first time this year. It's a very nice place, with some real large deer and hogs. You have to attend the orientation before hunting season to be allowed to hunt. And there are quite a bit of rules you will need to learn, which make it a safe place to hunt. The only down sides are the price, and it only being two day hunts. I saw plenty of big bucks before season. But during both of my hunts I only saw a 4 point I let walk. Hoping to see the larger deer the following day.( hence me not liking the two day thing) But still a enjoyable place to hunt.

Open yes, hunting NO, only every third weekend or so you can hunt. If you paid for and received that hunt. On weekdays you can drive around and scout but thats it. When the weekend of hunting comes 100 or so trucks hit the dirt road and the deer seem to figure it out pretty fast.

Any info on who to call for the permits, open dates, regulations, etc.? My nephew works for the FWC, but he didn't know much about it since it is a Manatee County property, not like a state WMA.

Thanks. Boy, they sure don't make it easy to find the info on their website, and the links within the pages didn't work for me. Luckily I know how to look at the code and see the addresses for the pages. I need to contact the county and see if they want a real web site that people can use!
