Good old mom and pop service.

Post by Cr0ck1 » Fri Nov 30, 2012 12:15 pm

Well i have an old lyman press. Recently with my reloading adventures. I had managed to get a cartridge stuck in the die. Well i got it all out and noticed i had bent the arm on my press. Well what heppens with these old lyman presses is the handle starts to back out and if you dont watch and screw back in, you will be putting pressure on the threads on the handle and bend the handle at the thread start.

Well i called lyman and they told me that they do not make any of those parts anymore BUT theres a guy in Minnesota that makes them. So they gave me the number and i called. An old lady picked up and told me that her husband was at the doctors and will be home later on. You can tell it was a home that i called and a mom and pop operation.

So i got a phone call back in a half hour. The guy called me back (sounded like an older senior). He told me he makes all the old press parts in his shop out back! He also told me ha had 3 new handles in stock!! 20 bucks later its in the mail!

Man i was so happy to give money to an actual small company with great customer service! He said he sells reloading stuff so to shoot him an email before i buy anything to see if he has it. He says he cant keep the stuff on the shelvs.

Just thought od share the story.

Throw out that 5.56 crimped brass and you'll be a lot happier camper ..... there be plenty of free 223 boxer primed brass at the range if you watch people and ask if they reload.
"Heck, you offer to sweep up my brass it's yours buddy!"

The range officers are not allowed to pick up brass at the WA in Pinellas county, they make the shooters do it.

the range I belong to is a "club" technically and they say the brass not claimed by the shooter belongs to them. If you picked up all of it, cleaned it and re-sold it you probably wouldn't have to work. some guy the other day was throwing away 223 brass and stripper clips. "one mans trash" as they say.

Well where i shoot. Whatever you leave on the floor gets swept up and into the club bucket.
