Ok guys I need some info of any camp grounds near the Tampa area(20 miles)! I would like a place that I can have my dog with me if possible. Also somewhere that has a good facility for a person that has walking imparments.

I have found a KOA but would rather find a small place but anymore would be a help, thanks Rion

Silver Lake in Brooksville
That is in the Croom WMA, on the Withlacoochee river. Not positive about pets. You can fish off the bank or slide a small boat in
That is an option if you want fresh water

Yeah I know. I can be in the silver lake campground from my house in Tampa in 35 minutes
But you are correct, Ft Desoto is nice. Sand Gnats can be bad at certain times. And don't leave food out or the coons will have a 5-star feast

you can't beat Ft. Desoto for a true florida camping adventure. that place has everything right close and some really good flats or pier fishing. there are two piers and many flats to fish. dog friendly with an open, no leash, running area for them as well.
