Re: salt springs
Don't know the area but make sure to take some pic's. to share.
Some people are like Slinkies ... not really good for anything, but you can't help smiling when you see one tumble down the stairs.
Re: salt springs
Where are you staying? State park or private campground?
Haven't been to the state park in quite some time, but I know you can swim all day. I think they might have a playground.
Elite resorts across the road on Lake Kerr has a pool, cabins, tennis court, and depending on what time of year I think they put together cake walks and games and such down at their rec center.

Awesome place. If you have a boat make sure to take it.You can take the run out to Lake George for some great fishing. Other than that the campground is very nice and clean and they also have a swimming hole at the spring which is phenomenal. Kids can swim with the abundance of fish from shell cracker to mullet.
We went last summer and stayed two nights. Kids did not want to leave!!!!!!!!!!1

Re: salt springs
Probably been 31 years or more for me as well, think the last time I was there I was about 15. But we loved the place, camped there several times in an RV. Caught the biggest warmouth perch I ever caught from the little boat canal using a mole cricket! We also went gigging mullet at night in the run between the springs and Lake George, and my uncle gigged a huge mudfish. He'll never live that one down, thought it was the biggest mullet he'd ever seen! If it's anything like it used to be, it is one of the best places to camp.TerribleTed wrote:Have not been there sience i was a kid so 30 years or more. Re: salt springs
When we bring the big camper we stay in Salt Springs State Park. They just redid the swimming area last year. It is very clean and the swimming area is great. And hot showers. good fishing also. You will turkeys and occassionally a hog in there. Highly recommend

Re: salt springs
i hope you have a great time at salt springs while you are in the area i would recomend you check out silver glen springs state park it is just down the road towards hwy 40 and has shaded tables overlooking the swimming area. the swimming area is huge and kids friendly as it extends across the run and has lots of shallow water. the spring itself is great for free diving with a weed free hard bottom. i would expect to see large shools of striped bass (10 to 15 lbs)of 100 or more who stay in the cool water of the spring sorry no fishing in the spring itself.but you can rent a canoe and fish the run to lake george a two hour trip
