Not a new member, but I've been away for a long time.
So this is a reintroduction...
I'm George, my wife is Joy, we are in Riverview Florida just south of Brandon. I have been hunting for years but only recently serious enough to finally harvest my first deer, a doe, two years ago. We got into a hunting lease last year but didn't get anything. We just left that lease cause we didn't fit in, and I believe I was given misinformation. We just found a new lease and just finished moving everything. Next couple weeks will be hard core scouting and setting things up. The lease is in s.e. Georgia, an hour from the previous lease.
I would like advice on planning the roads for food plots, and tricks to keep bears out of the feeder.
Hope to chat with y'all more in the months to come.

Welcome back.

SE GA, around St George? Was on a lease over there, bears got into everything. We were just outside the Okefenokee though.

Hey there, Glowworm!
Can't help you with bear issues but glad you're back on the forum. Sounds exciting to get on a new lease. I've been on the same small lease here in the Panhandle for more than 20 years and because it is timber land it is always changing, some times for the better and sometimes for the worse.
You and I have at least one thing in common, we are both married to a Joy!

Please tell me. Another member has a large drum feeder hanging from a 4x4 on top of two really long (20 ft plus) 4x4's. The drum is attached with heavy rope, and a pully and a boat winch. He said he had to sink them into the ground really good because a bear pushed it over before. So I'm guessing the 4x4 are like 30 ft long. Where do u get them that long first, second how do u get them to the lease? PS I thought bears could climb

Go buy a huge box of 3” drywall screws, 3 1x4’s pack of long thick industrial ziptiesGlowworm wrote: ↑Thu Mar 15, 2018 2:47 amPlease tell me. Screw lines of sheetrock screes in the 1x2’s all up and down down the board. When your done drilling like 500 screws lol.
Tanke the “sticker boards” as i call them and zip tie then “screws out” to the tree.
Now when the bear even touches this tree hell get poked and not be able to and never ever climb that tree again.
Did this at my last lease and bears got pissed and never could get up the tree to destroy a feeder again.
Btw what lease are you on?
