Re: bowfishing
I thought there was someone here that had posted a while back but was not shure who it was.

Might have been one of them voices. Poke around with a fresh Q-tip and see if they answer!bodysnatcher wrote:I thought there was someone here that had posted a while back but was not shure who it was.

Re: bowfishing
I would bowfish....aside from the fact that I don't know a bit about it, other than some of my old man's friend's used to shoot carp that way. I do have a bow, though, so I guess that puts me in the "+" column. I'm down to shoot about anything provided it has a heartbeat.

We used to do quite a bit of it off Lake George Silver Glenn, Salt River area, set up an old Bear bow had the 808 Zebco on it bunch of lights across the front and a little Honda EU2000 generator(very quiet) It's a blast. Takes a little bit to get used to shooting fish just aim low.

Re: bowfishing
We used to camp at Salt Springs and fish the run up into Lake George. There were some HUGE mullet in the run, and we'd go out at night and gig them. My uncle wasn't too good at using the gig, about the only thing he ever got was a huge mudfish! That thing was huge! It was facing away from the boat, he aimed for the head and got the midle of its back. He didn't allow for the refraction of the water, which is what messes up most people.flhunter wrote:We used to do quite a bit of it off Lake George Silver Glenn, Salt River area, set up an old Bear bow had the 808 Zebco on it bunch of lights across the front and a little Honda EU2000 generator(very quiet) It's a blast. I've got an old Bear Whitetail, would that be worth setting up for bowfishing?

Re: bowfishing
I've never really done bowfishing. Never thought about shooting mullet. I really have to start thinking about this one. Not really much for the bay mullet here but it is good for shark fishing. And it gives me an excuse to shoot my bow.
Not sure if I would rather be locked up with a 12 ft shark or helping dogs pull down a big ole hog.

Re: bowfishing
I plan on it just as soon as I find out about all the legalities.
Hunting or fishing license or both, legal species to take, legal places to shoot, ETC. are all concerns I have.

Re: bowfishing
I have never attempted it but I have a flats boat and a bow and would be willing to learn if you have some time and patience. I have a good hunting friend that would be up for the challenge as well. I live just around the corner from you, shoot me a pm and let me know what I would need to get set up.
