I worry more about bull sharks and stepping on a damn stingray than I do about gators. Personally don't find gators to be a threat to me fishing.
I had a bull shark swim up beside my boat while I was in a marina undocking one time. He stuck his head out of the water and his eyeball watched me move from bow to stern. I gained a tremendous amount of respect for them after that incident.

My buddy got nailed by one of the man-o-wars wading at Ft.Desoto one time. Hurt him so bad he cried,another friend of mine stepped on a gator wading in Lake Arbuckle. The tail scratched his leg pretty good. You should have seen us trying to run in 4' of water.
