Momma told me this mornin that our bacon grease jar was getting dangerously low. Told her not to panic, I would take care of it and fix the problem

After re melting and re straining everything I had this jar of liquid gold

With the price of bacon the way it is, it's probably worth more than gold!

Iluv2hunt,
My mother was an RN and she told my wife over 46+ years ago to not feed her little son hog lard. She said corn oil, vegetable oil, peanut oil and olive oil is what is good for for your health. So she has followed that advice most of these many years, however when my wife goes some where for several days my middle daughter and I go and get us a big piece of hog jowl, slice and fry it, then fry a bunch of eggs in the grease, just like we had good sense! Boy it's good stuff. A little bacon now and then but the dog gets the grease poured over her bowl. Any thing cooked in bacon grease is better. Beans and greens all deserve a piece of fat meat when they are being cooked. Such is life, we can't all be as lucky as you my friend!

Post by Cr0ck1 » Thu Mar 07, 2013 5:33 pm

Out of control. I usually get the precooked microwaveable bacon when i go up to hunt camp to cut down on the greasy mess. Well its usually 6 bucks for a small box, i went to get sone today and it was 10 bucks a box!!!

my dad use to make "cowboy biscuits" by throwing those store bought biscuits right into the bacon grease while it was still hot. Man those things were good....

Some of the best fried chicken I've ever eaten was cooked in bacon grease. My sister-in-law was out of cooking oil but had a big jar of grease and fried some chicken thighs and legs up in it. Man it was good...

We have a ton of it. We basically cook on cast iron every day. Nothing quite like it, imho

I have been trying to talk my wife into getting rid of all our teflon pans. Slowly but surely I have been swapping them out. She still has a set of caphalon pans she is hesitant to part with.
