Wild hog Pasteles

Post by Mr. Lolo » Sun May 19, 2013 2:30 pm

I don't remember the last time my wife and I made pasteles (a cherished culinary recipe in Puerto Rico) due to the time it takes to make them. A couple of special events are happening the next two weeks (including my son coming home on pass- surprise to his mother who have no idea) and we decided to make them. We also want to share with a good Puertorican friend that is doing us a huge favor and decided today was the day. We made some pork and chicken pasteles and decided to try wild hog as well.I can't even describe how good they came out, especially the wild hog ones.

Made a short picture video. Now I know how i'm cooking all the wild hog meat I can get going forward. :rockon

The port is right in the Old San Juan area. The Latin Roots Restaurant (walking distance form the cruise ship dock) have pasteles in their menu.

The best food there is down on the beach from the local venders. To me the octopus empinadas. I try not to eat in San Juan to touristy.
