Fresh Grouper Mmmmmm

Post by 9dawgs » Tue Jul 30, 2013 6:56 pm

Yet another reason why I love living in Florida.

I tried something different tonight for cooking the grouper my friend shot. I dipped the fish in the Louisiana Fish Fry mix, then dipped it in egg, then back in the fish fry and into the hot oil. Turned out amazing if I do say so myself...and I do. :chef

My late father-in-law had that made out of stainless at Kennedy Space Center where he worked for 30+yrs before he passed away. Its one of the coolest things I inherited from him besides my lovely wife.

I love the way it cooks, makes it easy to scoop up the fish too. I also have the aluminum round frryer with the basket but I only use that in combination with this one when I have a bunch to cook for.

Same here. Dad had this one made. It hasn't been used in years as it really only is beneficial if you are frying for a crowd

I bring mine up to at least 300-325 before I'll drop anything in. Anything hotter seems to burn the flour in the breading. Anything less makes everything pretty greasy. If you're cooking frozen fries after your fish then you'll need to bump that up a bit at the beginning. Just be careful putting them in! Don't be afraid to adjust it down if needed.
