Went to the keys a couple of weeks back and I am just getting around to posting the report. we decided not to take our boat and do some wadefishing. Apparently I was about a month off. After alot of research we found Anne's Beach. It has a great flat with some pretty good cuts and it has a deeper boat channel that runs right around there.
One item of mention is that we really missed out by not bringing the canoe. They keys have some incredible kayak and canoe areas. Wading is great but WOW with a little bit of transportation you really can have access to alot of areas there.
I did learn that tides work a bit different down there. The tide shop cards have 2 tides on them for each period. Those are for the Atlantic and then the Gulf side. I had foretasted wrong at Anne's Beach and we ended up going out at low tide. We still worked the area and actually saw some bonefish. BTW... They are like ROCKETS when the move. Wow. We however did not catch any. Next time.... Oh.... I will... :-)
It was a great trip, despite a tire blow out on Alligator Alley on the way back. We even took the dog who got a brand new collar at Margaritaville in Key West! Next time we go.... We are bringing the canoe or boat... we also will know more about the tides.
Enjoy the pics....
