Same thing I carry every day. M&P Shield 9mm in a Theis appendix holster. It can be worn either IWB, or between the belt and your pants

I became very fond of the Safariland high level retention holsters after having snaps become un snapped due to vines/branches/crawling under barbed wire etc. It's nice to know your pistol will stay with you no matter what kind of tangle you may go through. Unless familiar with them somebody would practically need a chainsaw to grab your gun. Great for hunting, they are not cheap or very concealable.

I'll probably get ripped for it being too small, but I usually carry a 380 right in the vest pocket of my speed harness (if I'm staying in the stand). Its better than nothing and comfortable while sitting in a small stand. If I'm on foot the entire time however, I take the 45 and use a paddle holster.

Re: CWP while hunting
"USE A KEY" GEE why didn't I think of that? Oh that's right, because there were few if any locks and NO keys. Gates few and far between. Besides fat guys love to try and climb over/under barbed wire. If going under a couple wires would cut down on an hours walk in the dark spooking game the whole way, if the wind happens to be blowing the wrong way (pretty much all the time), I"ll stop/ drop/ and roll, but thanks for the insight!

I can think of 4 WMA's off the top of my head, plus numerous lease land places that have barbed wire running thru it. From old and current cattle rights

Re: CWP while hunting
Nice pic Dave & pretty accurate. Whether the OP is packing a derringer or not is pretty personal and definitely off topic. Losing 11 lbs since Saturday, I might be just a tad bit grouchy & not my normal happy go lucky self. ANYWAY, if hunting legally and your handgun fits the bill as a legal hunting implement, open carry should be OK as well as CC as long as you have the ccw permit.
