Dog horn
I am interested in learning about the cow horns for dog hunting. I would like to get one or make one, I have some horns but I understand the length of the horn depends on the sound. Which sound carries the furthest. Has anyone ever used one or made one

Re: Dog horn
I have one. My dad told me that my granddaddy made it to call his bird dogs back. As a kid we ran bulldogs. Dad could blow it and they would be at our feet in 5 minutes. I cannot blow it. I have tried and cannot do it

Re: Dog horn
I've heard my wife's grandpa talk about using them back 20 years ago. I think the idea fell by the way side once shock collars got popular.

I have a couple of gyps that we c.an't run a shock collar on. And i still would like to teach them that sound instead of hooping for them.

Re: Dog horn
They don't like it, like a little kid not wanting to get in trouble. I actually had a older man from la. give me one under the condition I learn to use it. So this weekend I have made all sort of weird noises. Lol but will master it. My other half does pretty good with it so we are teaching them the sound.

Re: Dog horn
It looks to be horn. Many old horns are carved down at the neck like that or with similar shapes.spazhogdog wrote:Is the mouth piece wood?
