Re: Lion fish
The charter boats will have to be watching out for them. A few years ago I was on a charter with a few friends 4 of us and a father and son to finish boat limit. they were real pasty white and from some were way north of here. Anyway the father caught one and as the capt was coming around the boat to help him with his fish the guy was reaching out to grab it.The capt started yelling do not touch that fish, scared the crap out of the guy and when the capt explained it to him he was so upset that he was shaking and don't think he put a line in the water the rest of the day. If the capt had been just a few seconds slower it would have been a bad day

Re: Lion fish
That was a crazy amount of lion fish in one spot. They are taking over.
Re: Lion fish
Man, that's a LOT of lion fish. I hear they are good eating though. Too bad they can kill you, otherwise it would be fun to load up on them for a good fish fry.

Yeah, the fella in the video at the comments below it said that his buddy got stung on one of their dive trips and had an awful time with it. I guess if you are highly allergic to the sting it can kill you...Iluv2hunt wrote:Except worse
Here's his comment:
"We used to collect them for sandwiches until one of my best friends got stuck in the finger by almost two years ago. The pain worked it's way up his arm and across his chest. The next day he had tightness in his chest and flu-like symptoms. He went to his Dr and had a resting heart rate of 177. He spent 7 days in intensive care with congestive heart failure from the venom. It required 2 catheter cauterizations of damaged heart tissue and a year of therapy to fully recover. We eat grouper now." grayshep
