What loads are you all shooting? Just picked up a CVA Wolf today and I am looking to get some opinions. Thanks!

Crock - saw the pic on the scope post. Looks like you are shooting Pyrodex pellets and Powerbelt super steels.

50 yds getting 2", 5 shot groups. My eye sight and scope not good enough for me to shoot much farther than that. And i would rather be good at 50 than terrible at 100.

:toast same load when I had mine. I never shot one passed 70 yards with it as I normally hunted out of my archery setups for ML season. I tried 3 pellets in mine and the accuracy suffered terribly.

I don't have a CVA Wolf but I'll offer my 2 cents anyhow. I have the CVA Mountain Stalker sidelock, the CVA Buckhorn in-line and the Traditions Panther sidelock (currently converting it to a wood stock vs the composite). All in .50cal.

I currently use a 295gr power belt & 2 Pyrodex 50gr pellets. Good load for me. I tried 3 pellets in my in-line but that's just too much for where I hunt. You get plenty of kill with the 100gr load. I've also shot the saboted TC Cheap Shots @ 240gr with good success but went to the power belts because it's heavier for more impact punch plus it's one less step to get you up and hunting.

I guess the load you shoot really depends on where you hunt and what you're hunting. I've really haven't investigated the science in load weights & powder type combos but just use what has worked for me. I haven't been dissapointed.

I shoot 2 pellets with a Hornady 300 grain HP/XTP bullet. The sabot is 50 cal while the projectile is .45 cal. My gun likes this load and is dead nutz accurate. Some people don't like the 45 cal bullet, but give it a try. You may be surprised with the results.

I wouldn't shoot a powerbelt if they gave me a lifetime supply of them, and a free Kansas hunt
