I've heard of peroxide and amonia for copper, but when using peroxide you gotta be real carefull not to leave it on too long, 5-10 minutes, or it can etch a bbl. not sure of the finish. but I gues the water from the shower dilutes it enough. that may lend some truth to the saying that guns are a psychological extension of a mans junk.

I really like this stuff...

It works real good.

Or plain old hot soapy water and some elbow grease works well too.

So last year I tried using bore butter at the end of the season. So help me God, I will NEVER use that stuff again. Ever.
Figured i would go ahead and do my pre-season cleaning today since I had time. What a mess that stuff is. It was more difficult to clean out than a dirty gun from just shooting it
I just threw the tube in the garbage can. Done

Yes you have to get the bore butter out before you shoot it. It's supposed to be a rust preventative while storing it

How much did you put down the barrel?

I use Natural Lube 1000+bore butter and never have any issues. 1 fast pass of a dry patch down the barrel before loading just to make sure everything is clear and I'm ready to go.

I used the homemade mixture to clean my gun yesterday. Must say it worked very well. Granted I only shot it one time, but I only used one patch to clean it, and about 4-5 dry patches to dry it. I would recommend it for anyone. However I would also suggest oiling everything down at the end of the season as it will be too clean and stuff like the breech plug will rust
