I used to do a lot of fly fiashing for bass and bream, along with bonefish, tarpon, snook, etc.
I don't fly fish much anymore but I occasionally take it out when I go out with my dad as he only flyfish.
We use 9' 8-WF gear with deer hair poppers, cork poppers and rubber spiders.

Back in the late 70's my father and I started fly fishing for bonefish and tarpon in the flats and bays and people would come see us and laugh at us for trying to catch saltwater fish with "trout rod". Few years later we would go out in the ocean to fly fish for dolphins and sailfish.

I learned to throw a flyrod before I could throw a baitcaster. Dad and I fly fished our asses off back in the day for bass and panfish. When I bought my first kayak, I got a new 8wt setup to use on the flats. I simply cannot use a flyrod sitting down in a kayak. Its much different than standing on the deck of a boat
