why suspend the search at night. doesn't the choppers have FLIR on them. (forward looking infra-red) tends to work alittle better at night.

You would think. That area of bear island is probably one of the worst areas out there. It's thick as hell and full of snakes! I still can't under stand how he hasn't found I-75 if he's that close to it.

The only thing I can think of is that around dusk the noise of the swamp simply drowned out anything else. Those guys searching have to have lumps in their throats the size of grapefruit hearing a guy in that state, seemingly so close...

No meds for his Lyme disease + no thermacell = not in the right mind

I am wondering if he got shot by those boys and refuses to kick off...

I don't mean to be the sick one but, from what I ahve seen. Under 5 buzzards small game. 5 or more will be large food source. That would be the first place I would have someone look. Just to make sure.
Some people are like Slinkies ... not really good for anything, but you can't help smiling when you see one tumble down the stairs.

They heard his shots, right? Maybe he blazed a gator to save his hide? That'd bring in buzzards, right?

I cannot imagine stopping the search if I was the 1 looking. It's been 2 days and the glades can take it out of you quick. Hope he can hold on another night.

hes literally gotta be right there on the shoulder of 75!!!! Think about it, in survival training and what not, they say never to yell or anything cause you will waste energy. And more then likely hes been yelling for 48 hours. And after 48 hours he has to be sooo tired of yelling and now they are moans and thats way softer then yelling. Hes gotta be soooo close to 75!

in the days of modern technology, not understanding why to stop searching at night. in the days of thermal scopes, night vision you would think that searches could be done 24 hours.

I hope we have the opportunity to find out from the guy himself...

I always think to myself when I'm going hunting. "Do I trust this person with my life? Would they put their life on the line to save me? Could I do the same for them? Am I prepared for the worst?" I think this story just permanently engraned these question in me.

I don't get it either. Unless it is just too dense for the FLIR to penetrate..
