we go to the peace river campground every year, if you sit in the river with a sifter you will find old Indian beads and other artifacts. you also will find sharks teeth even on occassion a magladon tooth.

we have gone down that river many times, certain times of the year, mostly when the river is way down, there are a LOT of people wading in the water and sifting for sharks teeth and other artifacts. the peace river is full of snook too.

My nephew caught a 20 pound snook in the Peace River last week, just south of Arcadia. He works for FWC and they spent a week going down the river from up near Bartow on into Charlotte Harbor doing a fish count.

i recomend if you go camping use the peace river campground. if you are in a tent stay in the wilderness. go all the way back and you can pitch your tent right next to the beach. Also atv's are welcome if you pay $10 you get a wristband and can ride the trails.

I have an area by me where you can go down the river and find arrowheads and somewhere in this area is supposed to be an old civil war bridge that was used to come and go from the fort on the Hillsborough river and Dade City's battlefield !

I have always wanted to go looking for it but cant seem to get anyone to go ( to scared ) !

There is a pond close to my home that my guys go fishing at and my son Randy found what looks to be a spearhead , and pretty much anywhere on Handcart Rd in Pasco county you will find NA artifacts .

I would like to say PLEASE do not go digging in mounds or areas where it is known to be burial places , these are sacred grounds to us NAs .
