Hide scraper or knife?

Post by Skunk Ape » Tue Jan 05, 2010 9:37 pm

I found this while hunting last weekend. It resembles the hide scraper I found in Missouri but much smaller. It is sharp enough to make you bleed. Is it something or just a rock?ImageImageImageImage

That black rock is called obsidian, a volcanic glass/rock. One of the best materials for making early tools. It is capable of holding one of the sharpest edges of any material, and they even use it to make scalpels. Cool stuff!
