Vacuum sealers
Looking over the forum, there are several references to the Food Saver brand of vacuum sealer. Really would like to get one and wonder if there are any recommendations that y'all might have concerning different brands, models, etc..? We're still using the Ziploc freezer bags and the Ziploc manual vacuum bags for our venison processing, also for the garden vegetables. Usually freezer life is not an issue but lots of folks say the sealers are the best way to go, especially when you get down to the bottom of the freezer and find something 2 years old.
I'd appreciate any guidance on this if y'all have time.

Re: Vacuum sealers
I use to have a food saver and have been looking to get another one. The only issue that I have with them is if there is any liquid in the bag it gets sucked out and makes the bag hard to seal. Yeah they have the containers for the things like that but then you have to invest in a big stock of new containers. I know that it will marinate meat in no time and really keep things longer.

CrOck1, Bossman and fishindad,
Thanks for the replies! Forgive me for not acknowledging sooner . We bought a vacuum sealer back in March when we made our 1st batch of summer sausage. The thing works well. Have friends on each side of the argument about which is better, pre-cut bags or rolls , seems both have there place.

The $100 ones at Walmart work fine. Don't get sucked into an expensive one at Cabela's.

Re: Vacuum sealers
Here's a tip for you guys, if yall didn't already know this. I just learned this myself
ZIPLOC is now making vacuum seal bag material that works in the Food Saver brand machine. At Wally World, the ZIPLOC brand roll of bags is about $8, and comes 2 rolls to the box..
The Food Saver brand bags are about $10, and 1 roll per box. So you are getting double the product for cheaper with the ZIPLOC brand.
And....the ZIPLOC brand is a thicker material

Re: Vacuum sealers
If you guys have problems with moisture try and dry way you have as much as possible and then fold a papertowel.and put it in your bag all the way across. Helps a ton on sealing
See what had happened was...
