Bill Nelson

Post by Iluv2hunt » Wed Jan 23, 2013 7:23 am

I am a member of a gun owners of florida FB group. There are several members that have written letters to our senators on state and local level. Many have gotten responses. Here is a cut and paste of the form letter Sen Bill nelson is sending out

Dear Mr. ******:

Thank you for contacting me about policy proposals that seek to reduce gun violence in the wake of the tragedy in Newtown.

I am a hunter and have always owned guns, and I support the Second Amendment.

But assault weapons such as AK 47s are intended for killing, not hunting.

Solutions for reducing gun violence must address many areas, from protecting law enforcement and keeping weapons out of the hands of criminals, to school safety, access to mental health services, and confronting a culture that sometimes glorifies violence.

I support reinstating the assault weapons ban and restoring the 10-round limit for ammunition magazines. And, I support universal background checks so that we can know if person buying a weapon has a criminal record.

I appreciate hearing your views on this very important issue, and I will keep them in mind. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future.

Sincerely,
Bill Nelson

Again, no where in the second does it talk about hunting. Not a fan of him.

Iluv2hunt, at least you got a respose from him. I sent several short , polite, to the point E-mails concerning the 2nd Amendment and Nelson and Obama didn't even acknowledge them. Rubio and Southerland responded. Nelson has family ties in our county but he has never carried this county in an election, does that tell us anything? Treefarmer

What I find interestingis his "assualt weapons are for killing not hunting" line. So what is it that we do when we hunt? I guess animals don't die if you use anything other than Black Guns. Another thing, I use my AK-47 to hunt with Mr. Nelson, yes I have a 5 round mag for it.

All they will do is make it harder to defend ourselves from the criminals that have the ak47 pointed at our face.

Again, I'll state for the record here that Bill Nelson is my cousin. But I have never agreed on ANY of his politics. He's an unfortunate family member to say the least and an embarrassment to the name. I don't have any relatives that I know of who have ever voted for him...maybe his dad or mom but I'm not even sure of that. I've written him before and gotten the same "form letter" response from one of his office cronies. And he is a party man. He doesn't even blink on these issues that are contrary to what the dems say.

I apologize on behalf of all Florida Nelson's. It just goes to prove the old saying that "you can choose your neighbors but you can't choose your kin..."

9dawgs, I know very well what you are saying, we've talked about it before! There is a poll question on Nelson's web site, something to the effect of "do you support the reinstating of an assault weapon ban?" Check it out, close to 89% of those that responded said NO. His form letter finally came to my e-mail and he states he is a hunter and gun owner, but.... But what? The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting! Treefarmer

I blistered him in a rebuttal email yesterday. I was very professional about it. If I go missing in a couple days, it's probably because I have been escorted by men in dark suits

There stupidity just makes me so mad. I don't even own a semi auto if you must know.
It also is infuriating that so many want to break the law or abandoned the constitution.

Everytime I see him on tv I call him Mr. bad breath and dandruff. He just looks like that to me. U R right about straight party line vote. "How high do I jump" Nelson. Not one original thought. It is NOT who I voted for!!
