New pistol..
Well finally decided to go ahead and get my CWP. I know, I know,,,, lol. But figured now was as good a time as any.. Anyways, went ahead and set aside my carry gun , at the shop, today.. Will post pics in a few days. Ended up going with the Springfield XDS... Have shot one already and they are not to much to handle. Figured a .45 in such a small frame would be a handful, but it is not too bad at all..

I was looking at a kimber today ultra carry ll shop. Seemed like a good price at $875. Not sure if I can swing it or not but am going to try. Comes with a $200 holster and a couple extra mags.

Re: New pistol..
I've seen more than 1 person with kimber troubles at the range lately. If it's one of their lower grades, I'd be carefull. I don't want anyones bottom of the line made just to compete with other lower priced guns. my bro looked at them and got a S&W performance center pro series 1911. shot both and the S&W was much nicer, according to him. I think they might be coasting a little on their name and rep, but think their higher end stuff would still be quite nice, but for that money I might go with les baer or a vintage colt gold cup. you never realy said if size of gun/single vs double stack or cc is an issue.

XDM is a great gun. I picked up my .40 and the beginning of the year and love it. Great shooter and as you stated very easy to handle. Fits your hand well.

I'm no leo, but as I understand it. detectives in suits or plainclothes can carry pretty much whatever they want. in N.H. in 1975-78 the uniformed cops carried 38's and only troopers were issued 357's. then they changed to uniforms getting 357's also, and I made out like a bandit selling 38's. then the 9mm semi's came in, then 40's. I don't think I'd wanna lug around a hi-cap 45 all day or try to conceal it. if in open sight and with the right belt/holster it's another story.

The XDS is just bad azz... lol.. 6 +1 of .45 . 1" thick.. It carries very well.. Did find out Springfield is going to be bringing that gun out in 9mm and .40. But as of right now , it only comes in .45 ..
Micah, have been hearing of some issues with the small 3.5" barrel 1911s. Have done tune-ups on a few at the shop, full polishings, new springs and such. Then they run pretty good. Anyways, that is a hell of a price for that Kimber, just sold a used one at the shop with the Crimson Trace grips, galco holster, and 4 mags for $1200.00 used.....

That's a pretty good price with the holster. On gunbroker the Kimber Ultra Carry II's are listed from $650-1200.00. Most selling in the $750-850 range.... The whole idea is to find one there and have it shipped for around $650.00 OTD. That's the game...houseofmicah wrote:I was looking at a kimber today ultra carry ll shop. Nice find! I like my 357 snubbie revolver but, it not easy to shoot. At some point a 1911 is in the pic. (My dad swears by them -- Of course he is an ex Marine) I think a 45 is the way I would like to go too.

Re: New pistol..
How is it if you are shooting it one handed? Heavy recoil? Rapid fire one handed?
I know the baby glocks in 40 cal, 10MM and 45 cal are difficult to get a clean second or third shot at 10-15 meters if fired one handed rapid fire... Too small a frame and too light a gun for the power/bullet.... The baby glocks in 40 cal, 10MM and 45 cal are useless in my opinion; unless that's all you ever do is carry them; and don't/can't shootem or become profiecient with em.....
Been there done that...

Gunboy, Have shot one before and the recoil is not bad. But, one handed, you better be a manly man, like myself....lol.

Re: New pistol..
Yeah OK... That's why I carry and shoot a S&W all SS with wood grips .38 snubbie revolver that I can shoot someones eye balls out at 10-15 meters, one handed.
