Re: New blunderbuss
I had a rifle for sale/trade. Ended up making a trade for this H&R slug gun. This has the real thick rifled bull barrel. Always wanted a dedicated slug gun. I had an old Wingmaster I used for slugs. He had a high end scope which was not part of the trade, which is fine. Just gotta find some glass for it and get it sighted in. This should be fun to shoot

Re: New blunderbuss
You must of been reading my mind. I just picked one of these up as well after my thread about slug guns. I have read some really great reviews on these, although they are heavy. Once you find the right slug, these Ultra Slug's are $$.

Re: New blunderbuss
I doubt it will. They weigh between 8-9lbs w/o a scope. Just ordered a mini fortune in saboted slugs

What did you decide to go with?...I thought about going back to the Hornady SST. The slug might be the only hunting round to benefit from that d*mn polymer tip.Iluv2hunt wrote: Just ordered a mini fortune in saboted slugs

Re: New blunderbuss
give the federal premium sabots with the barnes expander bullets a try. they were about the best in a Mossberg & benelli rifled bbl.

Re: New blunderbuss
I bought a box of Hornady SST's, because they are what he had shot in it. However, I could only find them in 2.75. I got a couple boxes of the Remington solid copper sabot's. I figure if nothing else I can use the SST's to zero in. I've never been impressed with Hornady sst ammo to begin with, so I would really prefer to not shoot themTriple Creek Reaper wrote:What did you decide to go with?...I thought about going back to the Hornady SST. Re: New blunderbuss
I will be honest, I'd try 2 3/4" magnum slugs as well. My 1187 12 ga 3" with Rifled Slug Barrel shoots and groups the 2 3/4" magnum slugs better at 100 yards than 3" slugs.
Re: New blunderbuss
I'm really liking this gun Alan. The camo one looks cool too TripleCreek. I have the same one but I need a slug barrel for it.

Re: New blunderbuss
Dumb question. Can you shoot regular shot shells thru a rifled barrel? It would definitely not be a regular event. Just thinking if I carried this gun in the truck for a hog gun, but wanted to keep a bird shot handy to shoot a moccasin, would it do any damage to the rifling??
