Marlin 336cs
I just emailed guy about one and looks like it's in good condition. I haven't laid my hands on it yet but from the pics I've seen, the wood and blueing looks nice. It has the crossbolt safety, so I assume it was made sometime in the 80's. No MR serial number so I think it's a real Marlin. Is $350 a good price? 30/30 BTW.
Re: Marlin 336cs
I think that's $50-$70 more than what it's selling for around here.
I picked up the same rifle about 3 months ago from a guy here for $300.
It was 21 years old (1992) and in about 95% condition and included a hard plastic case and box and half (30 rounds) of factory Remington 150gr ammo.

Re: Marlin 336cs
too much if it's a remlin. and likely it's a 336sc.

Re: Marlin 336cs
Best deal I got on a Marlin rifle was a 30AW model for $200 from a guy in Orlando last year.
Found it on FGT while on a vacation to Disney World with family.
Did the FTF with the seller across the street from Sea World

Got the serial number and looked it up. Made in 1990. JM stamp on the bbl. Going to take a look at it tomorrow.

Re: Marlin 336cs
that's gonna be a close call if it's a remlin. I'm not sure of the exact date Remington took over, but they got a lot of bbl.'s that were already stamped JM, then mfg'd by Remington. the experts at the marlin forum will know. not ALL remlins are bad, just many.

After some researching Remington took over in 2008. Looks like I'm ok in that area. Now to see if it's in good condition.

Re: Marlin 336cs
for a Winchester guy, there's a lot about Marlins I like. the ease of takedown, shape of the lever, caliber offerings. I still say these older pre rem guns are a great value. eventually they will be bought up and prices SHOULD soar. good luck.

i also like the marlins. I am looking at a 1950 waffletop 336 in 30-30 with a 24" barrel. the highest i will go is 350.

Well my Titan has a rear axle seal leak. So there goes my gun money for now. This will have to wait. So close....

Re: Marlin 336cs
350$ would be an incredible price for a 1950 waffle top, IF it's in good condition and some Bubba didn't tap holes through the waffle pattern or sideplate for a scope or peep site.

Re: Marlin 336cs
nacho it appears to be undrilled or tapped. they are asking 400, but i will try hard to get them down. this would go nice with my .44 mag 1894, and .22 39a. the rifle has a little rust on it, but nothing i cant live with or clean up with some clp and #0000 steel wool. the wood is good as well, and the trigger is light and crisp. i think i am gonna pull the trigger on that one tomorrow and buy it before it is gone.

Re: Marlin 336cs
even if it needs minor finish work, once done it'd be worth 650$ easy I'd imagine. black walnut stocks don't grow on trees anymore.
