Mossberg 500 door breach

Post by Cr0ck1 » Tue Aug 19, 2014 7:08 pm

Ok so i had a customer owe me like 150 bucks and he gave me this mossberg 500 shotgun.

Now i want to put a door breach on it or as it might be called a flash suppressor or whatever different people call it.
Ok this barrel is a smooth bore and does NOT have threading for a choke.

Now i know theres 2 kinds. The breach that screws into the choke (i apparently cant use) or one that im guessing a gunsmith has to modify to install.

So does anyone have any idea how to make it work?? Ive attached a pic if the shotgun and two examples of door breaches i want to try to have installed.

My shotty:

How i want it to look:

You will need to have a gunsmith thread the inside of the barrel. Any smith with a threading tool can do it

When I got my turkey gun worked on it was about $75. That was cutting the barrel, rethreading, increasing the forcing cone, and mirror polishing. $60-75 I'd say. Dow arms in Dade city did it, and they took a year.

Got something planned? If you need a driver or lookout I'm available & still have the box of breaching ammo I got from TCR (things have been a little slow lately). I don't move safes or hurt women/kids. References/ resume available upon request. :gangsta

Having the inside of the bbl threaded, to the same size that would accept choke tubes (which I assume is how they would do it), as well as your door breacher would be a huge +. You could pick up a set of choke tubes & a full sized rear stock (I liked the houge overmolded black rubber one) & screw off the door breacher, put in an extra full turkey choke, or a mod/imp cyl for birdshot/buckshot/slugs & have a short barreled shotgun for 4 different uses. A pistol gripped/door breacher for s/d, turkey, hog, deer shotgun. The problem is that everyone that has changed a pair of grips claims to be a master gunsmith & will tell you "sure I can do that". Threading is easy, getting that threading PERFECTLY straight/true & aligned correctly is where the skill & experience comes in. Dixie slugs (near perry fl ?) has a smith they refer all their customers to for bbl threading, He does ALOT, you could call them.

I'm getting a not authorized to send pm's, so heres the info. Dixie slugs.com, 79 ne 242 ave old town fl 32680, 353-684-9007, 352-542- 2100 after dark. This is my old contact info. The original owner James C. Gates (a finer gentleman never lived) must have been severely ill or died a few years back? and yes they did close for a time, but are now back open. I don't know if the biz is still in the family or the same location. But there you go.
