2011-13 food plot done.

Post by Cr0ck1 » Sat Sep 29, 2012 3:00 pm

Just haven't had the money to get the food plot going, and when I do get up to camp just don't have the time. Well I made this whole trip a work trip. So got the spot mowed, then ran the disc, dropped seed then ran the drag. All I need is some rain and ill be good. ImageImage

I didn't even plant my food plot this year know the feeling of not enough money. My food plot is 1 acre and I always like to plant twice the amount of seed that it calls for. Luckly there is enough that came up again from last year. :saluting

No idea Allen. The timber company gives a pallet of seed every year. It looked like just a fall mix.

Sweet. I did a throw n gro on one of my spots. it came up real pretty and died within 3 weeks. I am going to get real serious about plots next year. Me and John got 4 good spots that all of them can be planted,I am going to try some half assed plots next weekend, but next season I will have some you will see in magazines. First year in this lease, you can only get so much done in one season. I need to build a box stand also...or buy a pre fabbed tower stand

I woild strongly recommend getting one with a motor on it, the regular ones you gotta put like 4 bags of corn on it and they make it so that you cant put bags on it. Ive run over plenty of bags. Or make a board that holds 5 cinder blocks or have someone weld an ibeam on to it. Just DO NOT LET OLDMAN JOHN stand on it ive tried that and it can be horriffic of a leg slipped down while moving.

I've pulled several different models. I can pull them as long as it isn't too wet

No its deep cutting. No weight means youll just be putting nice little lines in the grass instead of breaking dirt.

I know. The one I had was Steve's, it was the flip-disc. It weighed about 400# and would dig in good if you went nice and slow. I would love to have a tuff line, but can't afford the $750 they cost. You can set teh depth you want with those

Looks like a king kutter. I've got the same one. If you change the way the discs are mounted it will dig in much better.
