Actually battling slugs last couple weeks. Even Being a bug man, I don't like to spray while my plants are in fruiting stage. I put some slug bait out yesterday. They are eating a lot of foliage

Try spraying some neem oil. It's all natural and you can spray it even on the day of harvest.

I bought some because of an aphid problem, but after a few days, I looked again and an army of lady bugs have moved in and destroyed the aphids. I've been lucky so far that I haven't had a problem with slugs or those large locust looking bugs yet. But I have some neem oil on standby incase I start seeing them.

Had this pop up on some of my squash leaves. It wasn't there yesterday, so sometime between 5pm and 7am this showed up. I am pretty sure its whitefly eggs

I noticed the same damn thing Monday morning on my squash as well. It's like a constant battle with bugs.

Came home from Europe and found my relatives had been over picking my beans, cucumbers and squash and carrots. i was glad someone got enjoy them. still getting cukes-waiting for watermelon to start and corn to start. I use black kow exclusivley. I plant sun flowers in the middle to attract the bees . no slugs or bugs yet. the neem oil is what the organic farmers use and they tell it works good.

The garden is picking up steam now, harvesting veggies every couple of days.

Sunflowers are up to 5 1/2 feet and not slowing down at all, I swear they grow an inch every 2 days.

I got those leaf spots on the bush beans even inside the pool cage, not as bad outside. and production has seemed to slow down a little (maybe the heat?). cherry tomatoes are going strong, the topsy turvy's definately more than the potted ones.

a little off topic but those sunflowers remind me of a time in the 70's visiting with my roomates cousin. sunflowers were often used as a shield to hide other crops. we are in his backyard and he is showing us his "garden" his young daughters friend asks Mr ***** what kind of plants are those? he replies, those are collard greens, his daughter says yeah he makes cigarrettes out of them, lol. out of the mouths of babes. my current garden may be small but it's strictly legal.
